Unveiled in December 2019, the Air Jordan 14 Retro from Nike’s ‘Doernbecher Freestyle’ collection was designed by a patient at the hospital, Ethan Ellis. Personal elements on the shoe include a nod to his beloved TCU Horned Frogs in black nubuck with metallic blue layers and a two-toned color palette on the laces and tongue tabs. The number ‘6’ on the right shoe heel stands for his heart surgeries, and a depiction of the Space Needle emerges on the left. The translucent rubber outsole features heart rhythm patterns.
